tigeranneSince I keep joking about most of my Sims probably writing their age with three digits, I got curious and decided to do some roughly estimated calculations. This is more for my own benefit than anything, but if you're interested...
Warning: Don't read this if you're a math-fascist, who feels pain watching others miscalculate. This is not going to be completely accurate. The disproportionately long teen stage throws it off, by being longer than childhood instead of half the length. I suspect I suffer from some degree of Dyscalculia too, which is like Dyslexia for numbers.
I assume that Sims turn 2 when they age up to toddlers, 5 as children, 13 as teens and 20 as adults. The elder birthday does not happen at any fixed point.
Let's start with the first of the great dynasties, the Magpies. It's easiest to start with the youngest generation, and add on years as we move back. At just past the midway-point, this is how it stands:
The latest update ended with Greg and Bertie coming of age, making them 20 years old. Leicester is 5 years older than them, so he's 25. Flora is less than 5 years younger than the "twins", born soon before they aged up to children, so she's around 16 at the moment. Ferrett is a couple of years younger, about 14.
I think Abbie was about 23* when Leicester was born, making her and Peggy around 48. They keep well in this family! Editha is 5-6 years older, at around 53. Sharkey was still a toddler when she was born, so he's about 57. Burton's kids are much older than the rest of their generation. Bartholomew was a kid together with Sharkey for one day, so let's say he's 6 years older, making him 63. Francine is about 9 years older - she became a teen while he was a toddler - which means that my little hipster is actually 72.
*This is the point where I'm most likely to have messed up. There were no births in the family between Abbie and her own oldest child, so there's a long time gap with no reference. She stalked Chester for what must have been a couple of years.
Louise, the youngest of her generation, was probably no more than 22 when she had Sharkey, so she's 79 or thereabout. I cheated her into existence - and aged her up to a toddler immediately - a day after twin brothers, Laurence and Reuben. The twins would have been in the vicinity of 80 if they were still alive. Neale turned 13 on the same day they became toddlers, so we can assume he was 11 years older. This means that Edna, who was born on the same day as Neale, is actually 91. (She's 71 years older than her brother, Bertie!!!) Thaddeus was a toddler when the twins were born and would have been 82-83 at present. Molly and Ettie were born a day apart but aged to toddlers together, probably on the same day as Edna and Neale were born. This puts them at 93. Burton, the oldest of Gen 3, became a teen while Elys was pregnant with Ettie, so he's at least 106 years old.
Mary Elizabeth was only a couple of years older than her oldest nephew, so she would have been 108 at this point. Elys became an adult between the birth of Burton and Mary becoming a child, so we can assume that she was 19 years older than Burton. She would have been 125 years old. Weedy is a couple of years younger than Elys, so she's currently around 123. (She had a baby when she was 103!) Rowland, the oldest surviving member of the family, grew up to childhood soon after Elys was born, so we can safely assume he's around 130 years of age.
The MacAvoy siblings all have a known time-line from before they moved in with the Magpies, so I'll have to check how old they were when they moved out of their birthplace. Logic says Alfie and Isabel were in their early 20s, and Helena in her 60s, but I'll try to confirm it. Helena has lived with the Magpies since Abbie and Peggy were toddlers, so at least 44 years.
As for how old the deceased members of the clan were when they died, that's a bit trickier. I always assumed that Douglas was much more than 20 when he founded the family, but since he had no backstory everything becomes speculation. Let's say, just for the narrative, that he was 35 when Rowland was born, and that Allyn was 30. It doesn't mess up anyone else's ages, I think. They'd have been 165 and 160, respectively. Douglas died on the day Mary Elizabeth turned 13. She was 22 years younger than Rowland, so Doug would have been 57 when he fathered her. (Same as my Dad, actually! Luckily, I got to keep him twice as long as Mary had hers...) Poor old Doug wasn't actually so old, he barely reached 70, or 55 if we assume he was 20 at the beginning.
Allyn lived until Louise turned 13, so she was (finds calculator) 94 years old when she passed. (Again, based on the assumption that she was 30 when she had Rowland.)
Rose was the next one to go. It happened soon after Francine's toddler birthday, so let's say Francie was 3 when her granmother died. Let's assume Rose was the same age as Rowland, since she was a townie and didn't have any timeline of her own. Burton was 34 when Francie was born, so 37 when he lost his mother. She was 24 when she had him. Rose only became 61.
After Rose, the next who died was Laurence, who was in his early teens. Let's see. Elys was 125-80=45 when she had him. She was 5 years younger than Rowland and Rose, so she'd have been 56 when Rose died soon previously. According to this, Laurence was no more than 11, but since he was a teen, and because I've probably wrongly estimated someone else's age, I think we have to go with 13 as his age at death. Elys was pretty "old" when she had her last three kids, though, so 45 sounds about right.
Sinjin passed away around the same time as Editha turned 2. His daughter, Louise, would have been 28. If we assume he was Elys' age, that puts him at 74.
Mary Elizabeth died right before Barth became an adult, probably the day before. Let's see, find Rowland's age when his grandson turned 20, and subtract the age difference between him and Mary. He was 24 when he had Burton, Burton was 43 when he had Barth. 24+43+20=87 Mary was 22 years younger than Rowland, which makes her 65 when she died. At most. And that was WITH some elixir. Fortune Sims have it rough. (Especially since Burton, 63 at the time, wasn't even Captain Hero yet and treated as a young man!)
The next one to die from old age was Neale. He died very shortly after Barth's adult birthday, probably no more than two days after Mary, so let's say it was the same year. If Mary was 65, then Elys was 82. She was 34 when she had Neale, which means he was no more than 48!!!
Reuben and Thaddeus lived out their lives with the MacAvoys, so I need to check how long they lived there. They moved out right right before Helena and Rowland's wedding, 44 years ago. Reuben was 36 and Thaddeus around 39 when they moved.
Next to go was Alfie. I will check later how old he was when he married Weedy. We know that she was 103 when he died, the day Bertie was born. They got married very soon after Douglas' death, so Weedy was about 28 when they married. She may well have been a few years older than him. This means their marriage lasted a whooping 75 years!
Elys died while Abbie was pregnant with Flora, and a day before the "twins" Greg and Bertie aged up. If we assume that her great-grandchild was 4, it puts her final age as 109. A very respectable age.
Like with her brother, it's not possible to calculate Isabel's correct age until I know how old she was when she married Burton. She died during the "twins'" teen birthday party. Since that stage is disproportionately long, it could possibly have counted as more than 7 years if there had been births or toddlers during those years. But I checked it the "long way", by seeing how old their main ancestor Elys would have been when Isabel died. She'd have been 118, so the 7-years-ago theory checks out. That means Burton was widowed at 99. He married Isabel right after the birth of Elys' twins, 80 years ago, when he was 26. This means Isabel lived with the Magpies for 73 years.
I'll try to do the MacAvoy's ages after work tomorrow. :)
