When Edward came back to Bella, he pointed out that she was at fault for believing him so easily that he didn't love or want her anymore. And she just took him back, no questions asked. *facepalm* But we mustn't feel bad for Bella. She's every bit as self-centered as he is. If ever two fictional characters deserved each other, it's them.
I actually liked New Moon the best out of the four simply because the Cullens were absent through most of it. I liked Jacob a lot in this book. I suddenly didn't like him anymore in Eclipse, which, by the way, was the only book in the series that came close to achieving plot and conflict. But it seems the more Meyer develops a character, the more you end up hating them. I like Charlie, but I'll bet if she wrote a book about him, I'd end up wanting to kill him. X)
