A short visit to the Athertons.

OK, so I put my unruly pets, the Atherton family, in the Uglacy hood Arenaseca. (Arena means "sand," quite literally, and seca/seco means "dry." It's a pretty accurate description of what the neighbourhood looks like.) I've missed the Athertons, and they're one of the families I'm planning on playing between my rounds of the Scheilers. This is a really fun hood, and I'm definitely going to explore its potential.
These are just random pictures, with no particular importance to the Uglacy. This is just a regular family now, not an ISBI.

Oh Evie... never change.

First supper in their newly aquired house. None of them have any skill-points yet, so the food is something that doesn't require cooking at all. Morris is going to relive his former career as a celebrity chef, but this time he'll actually have to work for it. Back in the ISBI, he got the job by constantly winning word-puzzles against his superiors. In reality, he probably had something like 4 cooking-points to his name.
Milena has rolled an LTW for the same job, so she'll be tagging along.

And who should make a walk-by, if not the Narrator herself.

If Raelynn had a Simstagram, it would be full of her looking moody like this, in front of assorted background elements.

Maybe she came over to find her parents and sister, who had been the Welcome Wagon. Tammy was having the hots for Cousin Shane.

Tippy absolutely loathes Milena, and it's actually not Milena's fault. It's Tippy and her various family members who spy on her, this time around. They wouldn't be the Athertons without some enemies, though.

The stray dog called Max somehow found his way into the house, and Henry took a liking to him. I thought he'd make a good pet, so I had Henry pay him as much attention as possible. Neither of them protested in the slightest. Maybe the presence of a faithful canine companion may stop Henry from becoming the wreck he was last time.

Williana and Wilandra always made slightly unsettling friends (to the degree Wilandra actually made any), so it wouldn't be any surprise if they got along swimmingly with our Raelynn.

Awwwww. <3 I was really disappointed when Max suddenly decided it was time to go home, wherever that is, before the option to adopt became available.

I genderflipped "Tameron"'s darling Hawthorne, while I was creating a bunch of weird-looking townies for Kult Friday to select a baby mama from. I can't remember what her name is, but Gertrude (who's made from Octane Diesel) is her sister. This girl has a similarly old-sounding name. It's like Ernestine, or something in that vein.
I actually like this oddball a lot. x)

She obviously took offense to whatever Raelynn's father, Zack, was talking about. Zack is pretty un-PC and offends people left, right and center, so that's nothing new.

Um, this is kind of an example of that, possibly. I hope he's just asking Alex if she's hoping for a new baby sibling, and not actually explaining how Mom and Dad made her and Evie. I'm going to assume it's the former, because it's actually way out of character for Zack to think that sort of information is suitable for anyone younger than 12-ish.

They're not adopting a wolf, but I'm having them befriend this one. It's always hung around everywhere, in its various incarnations. In this hood it has a sort of cool name, and is apparently male, but right now I can't remember what it's called. It wasn't quite as awesome as Ichabod, but it was up there.

Oh, and Morris and Milena have the hots for one another. x( I'll have to change their preferences, methinks. Just... look at this scene. She's oogling her brother-in-law in a way she's definitely not supposed to see him, just dressed enough that she's not stark naked, while eating an apple. DOES THIS REMIND YOU OF ANYTHING? No, nothing could go wrong here, no sirree...

It's almost weird having Wilandra behaving like a normal person, instead of trying to rip someone's head off their shoulders.

Williana is still my little flowerchild, so she gets a garden she can spend quality time with and fuss over. I got a set of growing trees from Plumbob Keep, and I wanted to try them out. They actually seems to grow a little every day, so they could work for storytelling purposes in the Edgarcy. The Bogweeds will have to re-plant the whole apocalyptic region, so it will get pretty along with the family, after all.

I can't even remember if Alex ever learned to study in the old hood.

Evie's still a whiny little rugrat, I see.

I... guess Studs must have made a scary impression on Alex when she was over.

So, I just wanted to show you how pretty Wilandra is when she's not scowling or baring her teeth. (Her eyes could come down one or two notches, I see now.)

Wilandra: We had sex-ed at school. Congratulations on having MADE ME! :D
Milena: I just live here.

I love night pictures. :) Their house is the same model as the one the Scheilers are currenly living in, expanded a bit to suit a family who won't be accepting a sleeping barn in the backyard as a solution. Their fenced-in lawn area is also larger.

Wow, that really didn't take long! Don't tell me that Wilandra is actually... smart???

Vanessa: I always knew you had it in you, darling!
Wilandra: Mom, put some clothes on.

Williana: Like you only have one clever kid, duh!
Um, it looks like Morris and Vanessa are blending together, but they actually weren't.

Morris: But I have said no feeding the strays!
Well, you're outnumbered by people who want a pet, Morris. And they're trying to get Max to come back.

One of the girls brought second-cousin Caitlin over after school. Cousin Shane, who you saw earlier, is her father.

Alexandra brought over Caitlin's sister, Georgie. Milena and Henry's youngest daughter in the ISBI, who had the same name, isn't a canon character. This girl is. The story has taken a bit more shape since 2013.

All the berry bushes have animated butterflies. They're so pretty! :D

Have a better look at Caitlin, BTW. She's supposed to be the slightly spoilt beach-bum type.

I wasn't sure when Max would return, or another pet would be persuaded to move in, so I had them adopt the kitten usually known as "Bonkers," from the pound. His new name is Elias, in honour of a character from a mystery/fantasy story I've been following on Reddit NoSleep this summer.

As cute as kittens are, I really like it when they stop being so darn tiny! That goes for Sim-cats as well. I cheated him as close to aging up as the Sim Blender allowed, then temporarily enabled aging for the household. I reset Evie's age a couple of times, to keep her as a toddler.

BTW, they have a pool, something the Scheilers definitely can't afford. x)

OK, so this is the penguin. What is it doing in a desert hood, in the middle of the summer?

Friday morning, Max was back. :) It wasn't very hard to get Henry to interact with him and getting him adopted. Now he's part of the family! He's an old dog, but he'll have a long and happy life here.

Morris: Oh, was this your apple, Milena? *munch munch*
Milena is not very smart about eating. Her hunger-bar had around one millimetre left of life in it.

Max barked and made noise to get Elias to wake up and come to play. Sleepy kitten wasn't really amused.

On Saturday, the girls took a trip to the beach. Max came along, but Elias and Evie had to stay at home because they were babies.

Who should be the first person they saw, if not Oliver, amusingly located beneath the foliage of an olive tree. Oliver, Wilandra's dysfunctional crush and sworn nemesis. He moved in with the Tylers (Shane, Caitlin, Georgie and Callie), but he's not related to them. Oliver is a human teen here, not a Servo.

Wilandra: Hi, I just met you, and this is crazy... but I feel like I've known you before.
Oliver: Are you sure? I think I would have remembered you. (I mean, you're pretty cute...)

Hi, MK'la.

Alex found another little stray dog. Its name is Pepper, I think. It looks like strays only come by if you have your Sims bring a pet.

Wilandra: That mysterious boy is hot!

Williana started chatting with MK'la, and I'm pretty sure the conversation was interesting, but there was something else going on that grabbed my attention.

See this cat, which was being rather hostile towards Alex? That is Kobe, who
sammyfrog had her Duckling spares adopt. Kobe is almost fully trained, and was so happy to be can haz-ing a new home with the Ducklings, I thought maybe her alternate reality self would like to have a chance with the Athertons. Yeah...

No self-respecting Atherton takes a no as a no under such circumstances, however. There's so much going on in this picture. Alex is trying to teach Kobe about positive interactions, Williana is telling MK'la a story about soup, Wilandra is bonding with Oliver through a game of catch, and Pepper is eating a chair because they're hungry.

The chair wasn't very nutricious. I'll have to add pet food next time I edit the lot.

I don't think Kobe likes the idea of being an Atherton.

I don't think she likes it at all.

It's weird, because she's a friendly cat in Sam's game. Maybe it's because the Ducklings bring out the best in everyone (except in Weedy), while the Athertons have a sort of reputation for the opposite effect.

Leona: Don't waste your time with that cat, little girl. It can sense that you don't know anything about life.

Leona is kind of a bitter person, if you can't tell. She's got zero Nice Points, and according to Tameron's "canon" she's also an assassin.

Leona: Kids and fluffy animals and happy people and sunny days make me so MAAAAAD!
(In case anyone wonders, Tameron isn't real and I made all the weird Sims on her page. Just download them if you want, she's not going to come after you for breaking her TOU.)

While MK'la was asking Ivy if she wasn't scared of Tameron beating her up for having a fidget cube, and Ivy was explaining that it was a puzzle, Rover started eating the other chair. (They magically generated the next time I loaded the lot.)

Ivy: I think he's hungry.
MK'la: U think he lieks sozzages?
Ivy: I guess.

Wilandra was a bit more ambitious, and went for the wraps.

Oliver sat down with MK'la and Ivy, to discuss environmentalism.

MK'la hopped over to the table where the food was, though. Soon after, Oliver followed suit.
Wilandra: (Oh wow, he's coming this way. Is he going to sit down? He's going to sit here, isn't he??? Oh no, why did I make wraps? They make you looks so derpy when you eat them!)

Oliver: Mind if I sit here?
Wilandra: ................................ *spluttre*
MK'la: Nmmmmmgnafz...shure!

Wilandra: I... can't... move... my limbs.

MK'la headed home, thinking about luuuuurww. Maybe she'd gotten inspiration for a great literary romance.

Caitlin: Maybe I just imagined it, but I think that cat just took a chomp out of the tree.
Williana: I'm keeping the trunk between us.

The witches in this hood have fantastic names. If you can't read it, her name is Kettricken Helms, and she's an Atrociously Evil Witch. The good witch is called Clara Sue, BTW.

Lets just have some pictures of everyone taking a nightly bath, and get a certain REM song stuck in our heads, okay? :)

The photograph reflects
Every street light a reminder
Anyone else a little bit depressed now? Just a tiny smidge?

Leona: I like you, dog. You've seen the darkness of the humans.

Here's Callie, BTW. Shane is her husband, and Caitlin & Georgie her children.

Lo and Behold. Laurelin is worthy of petting Kobe, apparently. (You can't tell from this angle, but that really is Laurelin. She's had a change of hair colour.)

Studs was getting acquainted with the Tylers' cat Nelson. Maybe he's wondering if it can be persuaded to have kittens with one of his cats, when he gets rid of The Community and can move back into the house. It's going to take Friday a while to scrape together the 18 000 Simoleons he'll need just to buy the lot he wants, though.

I hope Leona isn't gettin any good ideas about learning dark magic.

It's kind of cool that pets can come along to community lots. In TS3 (when I've been playing it), I always take at least any dogs in the family along, but in TS2 I've just been leaving them at home.

Back home, Elias grew up as soon as the car was parked. He'll be an immortal pet, so there's another of the MacAvoy cats getting their happy ever after.
I don't have any more pictures from the Athertons right now, but here are some bonus pictures from when I test-played the beach lot with other families.

First out were the Carmichaels. As soon as they got out of the car, MK'la started picking on Raelynn.

Raelynn, of course, was a drama queen about it.

Shane and Henry were there, as was Alvin. He's probably still wondering about how he can find that hidden treasure.
You can probably tell that I put a few more trees and some shrubbery on the lot. I've never been to a beach that was completely clean of weeds and underbrush.

Alvin started trying to impress MK'la by climbing the coconut tree, but she pretended to be asleep because he wasn't cute.

I've got two versions of that palm. Only one can be climbed, I think.

Then it was the Tylers going for a test run, and they ran into Tameron.

Their cats destroyed a tuft of grass, which contained a lot of garbage some nasty campers must have buried.

Oliver and Blaze probably have a lot to talk about.

And this is definitely Tameron climbing a palm tree. Her inner cat is very strong.

I'm not sure if cats like coconut milk, or if that's too weird of a taste for them.

Oh yes, there are girls who are more psychopathic than Wilandra.

And here is Tameron making everyone lose their appetite, by asking whether the tapeworms her boyfriend's got from eating food he finds in the trash (he's Labrador retriever kin) can transfer through kissing.
Have a splendid Sunday evening, and a nice new week! :D

Date: 2017-07-24 05:01 pm (UTC)Oh yay the Athertons get to live in Spain! My brain tells me that when they were an ISBI, Williana was the one in charge. Is that correct? *hopes brain is actually functioning*
She's oogling her brother-in-law in a way she's definitely not supposed to see him, just dressed enough that she's not stark naked, while eating an apple. DOES THIS REMIND YOU OF ANYTHING?
If I had time, I'd Photoshop a serpent into that picture. X)
I love the beach lot! I never think to put trees in, and it would be fun to put the kind of trees that Sims can actually climb and get fruit. I'll have to try that!
LOL Kobe! I think the Ducklings do have a magical calming effect on just about every living creature, but Kobe is supposed to be aggressive. That's why Harmony and Martin are keeping a single-pet household. I expect she'll be beating up on the wolves eventually. The other Atherton pets are better off without Kobe!
Oh, and LOL Hawthorne and Leona! Are you planning to breed Tameron's Sims into the uglacy? I might like to, as well, if you wouldn't mind. But call dibs on any of them! Leona still reminds me of someone I've seen in real life--someone whose plastic surgery has gone wrong. When I saw her this time, I thought of Tammy Faye Bakker, but that still isn't quite right. At least my brain is making progress!
Once in a while I remember to bring Seth along to community lots, but it's usually boring. He promptly goes to sleep or starts starving to death. Everyone has to keep feeding him treats, and other animals aren't very nice to him. :(
MK'la probably had to go home because she had a new idea for her Summer Town fanfic that she still hasn't finished. She likes her boots but she's very mad at her self-Sim for being mean to Raelynn's. She still hasn't forgiven her self-Sim for cheating on Gavin. It's good for her to know the humiliations of a self-Sim. XD
Wow, imagine the pain of climbing a tree in a bikini, barefoot. Maybe I'm weak?
Well that was fun! :D

Oh, P.S. I forgot to mention, you know who I'd like to bring into the uglacy? One of Douglas and Grace's kids! I can't remember if I've already put them in MK'la's neighborhood, but if I have, some of them will have to be aged up to adult so they can be eligible spousal candidates!

I've been jazzing up the neighbourhood a bit, and putting in terrible neighbours. Most of the worst Almassys, and a couple of my favourites from my weirdness-role-model

Date: 2017-08-04 09:03 pm (UTC)I've really enjoyed your "Spain" neighborhood. X) I won't play the next heir right away, because I'm working on Duckling generation thirteen right now, and then I really need to put some serious work into my series. But it's my goal to play the next generation before the end of the year. I'm looking forward to it!

Date: 2017-08-04 11:21 pm (UTC)Oh oh, and I really must know: WCIF Butch's hair? I really want to see if it looks better on Landru than his current hair. XD
MK'la has a few names saved up from the oh-so-wonderful name generator. I compiled a list before starting the uglacy, but then I decided at the last minute that I didn't want a ton of kids. Can't remember why. But from here on out, there will probably be a ton of kids so we can see the genetic mixtures!
P.S. again: I've just realized that MK'la will have to come up with a suitably bizarre explanation for why Tameron's Sims are simultaneously in Spain and Isla Tropicana.

Date: 2017-08-04 11:37 pm (UTC)I've set up a hood especially for Tameron's stuff, because I have a feeling she must have a brutally awful esthetic, that she may eventually want to display proudly on her brutally awful neon-tinged blog.
I wish I knew where Butch's hair was from. Let's see if I can find out.

Date: 2017-08-05 04:58 pm (UTC)Thanks for the offer! I may take you up on it depending on who the heir will be. XD
And thanks for locating the hair for me! Now to see if it looks best on Landru. His hair does go off in that direction. X) Pretty funny. In the '60s, hair like that seemed outer-spacey. Now it's cool, I guess.

Date: 2017-08-05 06:22 pm (UTC)I made some more Tameron-Sims last night, plus one today. Get ready for teh pritteh.
This is Prinnie, and she did come out kind of cute. I'm not sure what Tameron would think of her, TBH. Maybe she'd cast her as a sweet woobie who would have to be protected against the baddies. Speaking of...
Deputy Dillon Drinkwine. Tameron doesn't like cops, and sees them as either slow-witted morons like Dillon, or like homicidal beasts like...
...Sheriff Ragnar Creed. Let's see his other angles.
He's uglacy material, I would confidently say.
The cops also look "great" as women.
Dorothy "Dottie" Drinkwine is Dillon's equally slowbrained sister. She's probably destined to marry a gas station attendant named Brett and have 7 kids.
Beatrix Creed is just about as dangerous as her brother, althoug she prefers using methods that don't leave any physical trace.
But all of these are simply the consequences of the greatest villain of all. Meet...
...PAT RIARCHY SENIOR!
He's so evil that Tameron's words cannot describe it.
Let me know if you want any of these beauties. LMAO!

Date: 2017-08-05 09:25 pm (UTC)SUCH BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. Wow, you are so good at making hideous Sims that aren't all alike! Prinnie is kinda cute, in a startled-deer sort of way. Some of their names sound inspired by our wonderful name generator. Ragnar looks like an ogre! All he lacks are some tusks. Pat Riarchy (lol i giddit!) looks like a ghoul. I think I'd like to have Ragnar, Dottie, and Pat, plz. XD
P.S. It looks like you're making good use of Nopke's sliders!
